It seems like cracked teeth are becoming a more and more prevalent finding in clinical practice, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. The ADA News and the New York Times recently published articles on this subject. The diagnosis of cracked teeth can be very perplexing because of the very vague nature of the presenting signs and symptoms. Do we treat or do we extract? Studies show that the range of treatment for the cracked tooth can vary from conservative treatment modalities to extraction and replacement with an implant. When a crack is suspected, guiding the patient to the proper treatment and follow up is paramount.
Learning Objectives:
Define cracked tooth and differentiate between cracked tooth and vertical root fracture

The Covid-19 virus has impacted our practices in ways we could have never imagined. The “new normal” has dictated that we need to be extremely efficient in every facet of patient care including our use of posterior composites. Class I and II resin restorations account for 2/3 of composites placed in our patients, yet their proper placement is not always as simple as it might seem. Advances in polymer chemistry have allowed us to predictably place composites in larger bulk or semi-bulk increments to create efficiencies, but attention to detail is paramount to yield long-lasting results.
Learning Objectives:
describe the six simple steps to achieving predictable results with your posterior composites
compare and contrast the differences between the traditional layering technique and the use of bulk fill and semi-bulk fill techniques
learn the importance of pairing your curing light and your composite to obtain the best results for your patients
The use of LED curing lights has become as ubiquitous as the dental handpiece to our practices. We rely on them for a multitude of preventive and restorative tasks every day. Yet, their efficacy can be taken for granted as we simply “turn on the light.” The consequences of inadequate light curing can lead to catastrophic results including post-operative sensitivity and recurrent decay. This makes the selection of a curing light, monitor its function and pair it with the specific materials we use vitally important to clinical success.
Learning Objectives:
enhance your knowledge base of the clinical importance of proper light curing
evaluate the key components to establish an efficient curing technique with LED lights for you and your staff
learn about new technology to accurately determine and monitor your light with the composites you use
transfer this information in a practical and positive manner to your practice

Difficult questions from patients can be unsettling, but what's worse is when you don't have really good, calibrated answers that will drive the patient towards treatment. One of the most effective tweaks you can make in your practice is learning how to answer the most difficult and frustrating questions that patients ask, and in the brand new seminar, we'll be showing you exactly how to do it in a simple step-by-step manner.
Learning Objectives:
learn how to answer many of the difficult questions that patients ask in a way that will satisfy them and move them towards treatment
participants will be well versed in “practice calibration” to get the entire team working as a unit
learn the importance of developing informative, natural sounding answers to difficult questions our patients may have in order to increase practice revenues and patient satisfaction
Modern ceramics and advanced adhesive techniques allow us to restore teeth similar to their natural biomechanical function. Unfortunately, the fundamentals of ceramics and bonding are still not widely understood. The leading cause of failure for posterior ceramics is fracture. While most doctors understand that fractures are the result of poor preparation design, few understand that poor bonding can reduce the fracture resistance of a ceramic restoration. In this presentation, we will review preparation fundamentals and designs that maximize ceramic fracture resistance. Additionally, adhesive techniques such as IDS & Resin Coating can increase bond strengths up to 400% and lead to long term retention of minimally invasive, ceramic restorations. These techniques will also minimize post-operative sensitivity and root canal treatments. Clinical cases will be reviewed to illustrate these preparation & restorative techniques.
Learning Objectives:
learn the leading cause of ceramic failures and how to prevent the
learn preparation designs to minimize stress on ceramic and maximize bond strengths
learn fundamentals and advantages of IDS with Resin Coating to maximize ceramic longevity

The ability to predictably treat oral hard and soft tissue defects has been one of the cornerstones of periodontal and implant therapy. Many surgical techniques and materials have been developed, refined, and modified to become less invasive and more esthetic. With all of the biomaterials available to the clinical today, it is helpful to apply an evidence-based approach to assist us with the rapidly changing market place and legitimacy of new products. Tissue engineering and biomimetic materials are not new but still have not seen a broad spectrum of use in clinical practice. What are the next steps? This lecture will review the evidence-based approach, classic and current research on the topic, and how we can apply innovations to our everyday use.Comparisons to the gold standards will be utilized to draw some conclusions related to clinical outcomes, patient-reported outcomes, and long-term tissue stability. A focus on periodontal hard and soft tissue regeneration, extraction site preservation, and sinus/ridge augmentation will be included with evidence shown from our own human clinical trials.
