This course offers a unique look at dental malpractice claims through the lens of an expert witness. Participants will gain critical insights into how cases are assessed, the legal processes involved, and strategies for protecting their practice. Emphasis will be placed on risk management, documentation of best practices, and understanding the standard of care from a legal standpoint.

• to identify the four essential legal elements required to file a malpractice claim
• to understand how expert witnesses evaluate the standard of care, review records, and determine the presence of a breach
• to outline the typical timeline of a malpractice case and recognize factors that can extend proceedings
