This hands-on workshop is designed to teach the principles and techniques of functional crown lengthening, a procedure that often involves both soft tissue management and osseous resective therapy. Participants will learn how to achieve a proper ferrule height and establish a healthy biologic width relative to the final crown margin.

Using plastic typodonts, attendees will practice exposing a maxillary premolar with a subgingival fracture. The course includes instruction on proper incision design, osseous recontouring (ostectomy and osteoplasty), and suturing techniques. Clinical indications and contraindications for surgical crown lengthening will also be reviewed.

 Learn to:

• recognize the indications and contraindications for crown lengthening
• design a surgical flap appropriate for crown lengthening procedures
• perform ostectomy and osteoplasty to expose sound tooth structure
• apply appropriate suturing techniques for flap closure

Master the foundational skills essential for successful periodontal surgery in this interactive, hands-on workshop. Working with pig jaws, participants will practice critical incision design, flap elevation, repositioning, and suturing techniques to achieve optimal surgical outcomes around the natural dentition. The course will emphasize anatomical considerations, including periosseal fenestration and incision closure, while teaching strategies for coronally advancing, repositioning, and apically positioning flaps. Participants will also gain insight into surgical instrumentation and suture material selection to improve efficiency and healing outcomes.
