The burden of oral disease poses a significant global public health challenge. In this dynamic, expert-led session, participants explore case studies, including those involving patients with diabetes. Participants review the link between oral health and systemic disease to identify patients at risk for gingivitis and examine the science behind mouthrinses as part of a comprehensive oral care regimen. Grounded in best practices from the 2026 ADHA white paper, this program equips participants with clinically relevant, evidence-based insights to apply in practice and use to confidently engage patients in preventive care education to improve oral health outcomes.

Learn to:

• understand the global burden of oral disease, explore the link between oral health and systemic disease, and discuss leading dental health organizations’ recommendations and guidelines for personalized preventive care approaches
• examine clinical evidence of at-home oral care regimens, including how mouthrinse, when combined with mechanical measures such as brushing and flossing, can meaningfully reduce plaque and control gingivitis outcomes
• to review the roles and mechanism of action of various mouthrinse ingredients
• engage in interactive case-based presentations to identify patients at risk for gingivitis and explore practical preventive strategies for effective at-home oral care
