Description:

Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT) is transforming the management of deep caries and pulp exposures by preserving pulp vitality and maintaining natural teeth through minimally invasive, evidence-based approaches. This course reviews the biological principles of pulp healing, current indications for partial and full pulpotomy, and contemporary recommendations from the ESE and AAE. Participants learn practical strategies for case selection, diagnosis, treatment planning, and material selection. The presentation also examines access to preventive endodontic care among Medicaid-insured children.

Learn to:

• evaluate the impact of access to preventive endodontic care among Medicaid-insured children in South Carolina and identify opportunities to expand evidence-based, tooth-preserving treatment approaches to improve oral health equity
• describe the biological principles of pulp healing and the scientific rationale supporting Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT) in permanent teeth
• differentiate the indications, contraindications, and clinical protocols for partial pulpotomy, full pulpotomy, and other contemporary VPT procedures
• apply current evidence and recommendations from the European Society of Endodontology (ESE) and the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) to clinical decision-making for deep caries and pulp exposures.
