This course is required for re-licensure and has been approved by the New York State Education Department.

This program utilizes real-life examples, OPD discipline cases, and opinions rendered by the New York State Dental Association’s Ethics Council throughout the program as “real-life” applications and relevance to the everyday practice of dentistry.

Included are the Laws of New York Applicable to Dentistry and the Dental Practice Act; Miscellaneous Laws and Regulations; and the Ethics of and the Professional Responsibility for Practicing Dentistry in New York.

Description:

This is the 14th year of this program. The presentations are shorter and the discussions are longer. Ms. Belkys Garcia, the lead attorney for the most recent Medicaid lawsuit, provides an update. Ms. Margaret Surowka, an attorney who handles Medicaid provider defense, updates us on Medicaid policies and administration. Dr. Michele Griguts, the dental director of the NYSDOH, discusses current Medicaid issues and policies in NYS. Dr. Adam Silevitch, a pedodontist in NYC, discusses and shows cases of incipient decay treatment using Curodont.

A panel discussion will be ongoing during and after the presentations.
